On November 1, 1989 Nancy Smith took over the Wm. R. Karschner Agency in Athens, PA. Nancy had worked in several aspects of the insurance industry and wanted to be able to provide her customers with the availability to take care of all their personal insurance and small business insurance needs in one agency. That began the Nancy Smith Insurance Agency.
Throughout her years, Nancy grew her business which led her daughter Kimberly to join her staff as a licensed producer in 2002. Nancy and Kim worked side by side for many years to maintain a good working relationship with Erie Insurance Exchange along with Progressive Insurance, Millville Mutual Insurance and more recently Grange Mutual Fire Insurance.
In September of 2011 the agency suffered a huge set back when it was flooded along with many other businesses and homes in the downtown Athens area. During this time the valley area saw many businesses close their doors in Athens. With the generous help of community and family the Nancy Smith Insurance Agency was able to rebuild and return to downtown Athens. Since that experience the agency has continued to grow but most importantly it developed an even stronger relationship in the community and with it policy holders. Our customers know that we are here to serve them, to help them in any way we can. It was very humbling to the agency, in the many customers they gained and retained during this very stressful time in the agency.
In December of 2014, Nancy retired from the Insurance business and passed her office into the very capable hands of her daughter Kimberly Mastrantonio.
January 2015 brought the start of 2 Rivers Insurance Agency. In the growth of this business has brought a new licensed producer, with Stephanie Yanuzzi as new agent in the office. We look forward to continuing the same great service for all of our existing and new customers in the future.
